Grunley has been performing a complete renovation of the 277,000 square foot historic The Watergate Hotel. The renovation project entails an impressive renovation of the Hotel function within the five buildings that make-up the Watergate complex listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Grunley renovation was a collaborative effort of numerous construction disciplines including, but not limited to demolishing and fitting out the interior of the 13-story, unoccupied building; repair and replacement of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems; refurbishing the amenities within the new five-star, 348-room Hotel outfitted with two restaurants (one with a terrace), two ballrooms with substantial structural work, a rooftop lounge, and five new large terraces; and, for its support part, EPIC providing Project Management of the low voltage requirements focused on the renovation’s Audio Visual component requirements throughout the Hotel.
The Audio Visual renovation was key for the Hotel as it provided the requisite ambiance for the renovation project revenue drivers – the King Bird restaurant; The Next Whiskey Bar; the Argenta Wellness and Fitness Center; and, the Top of the Gate rooftop bar. Specifically, the PM support requires support to EPIC’s prime, Technical Innovation, in delivering on the following Audio/Visual installation charge (speakers – flush and exterior mounts, Biamp controllers, control racks, monitor racks, preparation of shop drawings, client interface, project management plans, etc.).
EPIC, in support of its prime, Technical Innovation, delivered on its requirements for the following areas:
- The Ballroom, Pre-function areas, the Kitchen, and Level B1 rest areas;
- Basement Level 2 which comprises of the newly designed Meeting Rooms, Board Rooms, Common Areas and Restaurant;
- Basement Level 3 that houses the Hotel’s exquisite Wellness, Fitness, Sauna, and pool;
- Level 1 which is comprised of the Lobby Common Areas, Hospitality Suites and Library; and,
- The Top of The Gate roof top bar.
